For safe and personalized therapies
On September 17, the annual World Patient Safety Day takes place – an awareness day launched by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2019 to highlight risks in healthcare and promote safer care for all patients.
At PGXperts, patient safety is at the heart of everything we do. For us, this means identifying potential risks, such as drug–drug interactions and genetic factors, at an early stage, and making therapies as safe and reliable as possible.
This year’s theme, “Patient Safety from Early Age – An Investment for Life” ,highlights how crucial safe therapies are for people of all ages. Pharmacogenetics (PGx) offers a forward-looking approach by examining how our genes influence the way medications work. This enables a more precise selection and dosing of drugs, contributing to safer, more personalized therapies.
That’s why pharmacogenetic testing is truly an investment for life:
- Early risk detection: Certain medications (e.g., codeine, specific antiepileptics) are pharmacogenetically relevant and may cause severe side effects. A PGx test helps identify such risks before treatment begins.
- More individual therapy: Especially in chronic conditions (e.g., epilepsy, asthma), PGx testing supports physicians in selecting the most effective and safest medications tailored to a patient’s genetic profile.
- Lifelong benefit: A person’s genetic profile does not change, meaning the results of a single PGx test can be used for life. Patients benefit from personalized medication decisions in the long term.
We combine pharmacogenetic expertise with innovative software:
- Our Clinical Decision Support System takes pharmacogenetic and pharmacological risks into account directly within the prescribing process, keeping potential interaction risks in view before they become a problem.
- For laboratories, we provide software for pharmacogenetic interpretation. The resulting reports give physicians a basis for selecting Personalized Medication for their patients.
Note: Our software is suitable for persons aged 18 and over.
World Patient Safety Day reminds us that safe care does not happen by chance—it is the result of research, innovation, and modern technology. At PGXperts, this is exactly what we stand for.
